The dependence of the self-generated magnetic fields associated with a laser-produced plasma on position, time, and background pressure has been investigated. The presence of the ambient background is found to influence the generation of the fields during the laser irradiation of the plasma. This influence continues long after laser shut-off and causes the fields to reverse their direction. (Author)

An Introduction to Nonequilibrium Plasmas at Atmospheric Pressure Sander Nijdam, Eddie van Veldhuizen, Peter Bruggeman, and Ute Ebert Introduction Nonthermal Plasmas and Electron Energy Distributions Plasmas are increasingly used for chemical processing of gases such as air.

Definition. Plasma is a state of matter in which an ionized gaseous substance becomes highly electrically conductive Non-equilibrium effects in fast moving plasmas book the point that long-range electric and magnetic fields dominate the behaviour of the matter.

The plasma state can be contrasted with the other states: solid, liquid, and gas. Plasma is an electrically neutral medium of unbound positive and negative particles (i.e.

Plasma activation (or plasma functionalization) is a method of surface modification employing plasma processing, which improves surface adhesion properties of many materials including metals, glass, ceramics, a broad range of polymers and textiles and even natural materials such as wood and seeds.

Plasma functionalization also refers to the introduction of functional groups on the surface of.
